Chapter 19
Kevin sat the guys down after the interviews and told
them everything that he knew. A.J. already knew most
of it thanks to Mary. He thought he would have to
bring Brian up to speed but evidently somebody had
all ready flapped their jaws to him about Bron.
"We're leaving tomorrow Kev," Brian said as he dropped
his head.
Kevin sighed, "Yeah, I know."
"What are you going to do?" Brian asked.
"I don't know, we're working on it,"
he answered.
Nick looked at Kevin, "You're not kidding; someone
is really trying to kill her."
"No you idiot, did you think this
was joke? Some kind of game? A fic?" as he jumped
up and grabbed Nick by the throat.
"Hey Kev, back off I didn't mean
anything. I care about her too!" Nick sputtered
out.
"What did you just say?" Kevin asked
him as he tightened his hand on Nick's neck.
A.J. and Howie flew out to their
chairs and stood by Kevin.
"Not like that Kev, like a big sister
or teacher. A kinda crush thing that's all," Nick
spoke as his eyes got larger.
"Fine you leave it at that Nick,"
Kevin let go and stormed out heading back to his room.
Kevin walked into the suite, "Please leave." Jake
left immediately but Mary stayed.
Mary walked to Kevin, "You're going about this all
wrong," she informed him.
"Am I?" he looked at her.
"Yes, locking her away isn't going
to change the life that she leads."
"Might save her life," he mused aloud.
"Or kill her spirit," Mary added
as she walked out.
Pulling the chair back he walked in; surveyed the
room and didn't see her. His heart did a flip, and
then he heard water sloshing in the bathroom.
He walked over to the doorway and saw she was up to
her neck in bubbles. Sitting there rocking back and
forth. He could see she was upset. What happened
was affecting her, he knew it wasn’t the imminent
danger that was bothering her, it was him. The last
three days had been so bizarre for all of them. At
least they didn’t have to worry about management getting
in the way.
"What are you up to?" he asked her.
She didn't pick her head up and spoke
to her knees, "Soaking that's all," she murmured.
"I'm gonna lay down for awhile before we have to get
ready for the show," he said figuring it might be
better to leave her alone. She is probably planning
her next move anyway.
"Fine," she said to her knees. Bron waited and waited,
then quietly slipped out of the tub. She dried herself
off and put on one of his T-shirts until she could
find her clothes. She crept through the bedroom not
wanting to wake him up. Gazing at him, he was out
cold. She thought to herself this is too much for
you to deal with. You thought your life was crazy.
What the hell am I going to do?
Bron sat for two hours staring at the pad. She couldn't
write anything; her mind kept throwing questions at
her. What was going to happen to her tomorrow? Where
would she go? Where was Bounce? Where the hell was
everybody? The questions just kept coming and coming.
Out of nowhere she heard her name screamed in a panicked
male voice and she jumped. Her head popped up and
Kevin was standing at the bedroom door disheveled
and drenched in sweat.
"Are you okay?" Bron scowled at him.
"Yeah fine," was the reply somewhat
calmer now. He exhaled loudly blowing the nightmare
out of his mind. "You better get ready we have to
go soon."
"Kevin I don't want to go tonight. Please don't be
upset. It's just too many people for me to deal with
right now." She looked at him with half closed eyes
and her head lowered.
"You have to go, I can't watch you if you stay here,"
he told her.
"That's the point, those people paid
good money for those tickets, you owe them a show
with your full attention on them, not me."
He opened his mouth to tell her no and she interrupted
him. "Jake, will stay with me. I'll be fine," she
eyed him cautiously and continued, "He won't cross
you again, so don't worry." Bron paused as she understood
she would have no choice but to stay with him. She
wanted Bounce back and Kevin would tell her before
Mc ever would. "I'll be here when you get back."
That statement hit him like a jolt
of electricity. "I'll ask Mary to stay too," Kevin
stated.
"No you won't, this is her last night
to bang A.J. and you're not taking that away from
her."
She watched as he smiled that wonderful
smile. He didn’t smile much but when he did it was
magnificent.
"You're such a smartass!"
She smiled back, "What the hell do you think they
been doing all this time playing Doctor?" Kevin tilted
his head. Bron looked at him, shit he didn't even
know. He was so wrapped up with her and her problems.
"She's a Doctor Kevin."
He made a weird face like he was doubting her and
she giggled, "Yes Kev, What did you think, we
were just a bunch fluff heads."
Laughing as he thought about it,
"Wow, that's cool."
"You better get ready, I'll call Jake," as she picked
up the phone.
"Yeah," he called back to her heading
to get dressed.
By the time he was ready Jake was there. He walked
out of the bedroom and they were sitting on the couch.
Kevin watched her pen fly across the pad and Jake
laughed. "Hey what are two doing?" he asked her.
Bron looked at him and started to giggle. "I thought
we had that settled," as he walked towards her.
Bron grabbed the pad and hugged it
to her chest, "We did!" she said with a sly grin.
"Oh! Then who is your target this time?" he asked
with merriment thinking Nick or A.J. to himself.
"You, as always, my dear," she smiled
sweetly back at him.
"Bron come on, you can't do that,"
he chided her trying to grab for the pad.
"Don't worry I won't post it," she
giggled, "Well maybe the tattoo part, they all want
to know about the tattoo real bad!"
Jake looked at Kevin, "She's such a bad girl!" Bron
began to laugh.
"Don't I know it Jake, Don't I know
it," he roared.
"Hey, you're ready early," Jake noticed.
"Yeah, I wanna go talk to A.J.," as he grabbed his
coat and looked at Jake. He shook his finger back
and forth at Jake, "No where Jake."
"Yes sir!" Jake grinned.
